WF3 on older workstation

We are due to upgrade from 2001 to WF3 soon and have a handful of older workstations.

HP X2000, P4 1.5Ghz, 1Gb Ram, Nvidia Quadro 2 Pro.

OK now I know none of that is on the supported list but does anybody have any experiences of using older hardware with WF3?
Is it likely to be so s l o w that its unusable? I am planning on replacing them later on in the year but we have no budget available for 8 months.

Any comments?

As a ball park estimate WF3 will appear to run at about 1/2 to 1/3 of the speed of 2001. Whether that is acceptable is up to you.
