I work in the EPS processing industry and we use wet seam accumulators in line with the boiler to handle the surge of steam consumption required by the processing machine. The standard has for the most part been half full tank with PRV valve between boile rand accumulator for make up ratio. We set boiler at 100psi and the accumulator at 50 psi thru the PRV. The processing machine requires 6-8 psi (238-248 degree F
for optimum fusion of the foam. It is a 200 cu ft. machine full of expanded beads and normal steam times total are 20 seconds. We steam thru open drain and into vacuum tanks to get proper steam distribution before fusion occurs.
This process has been use for 35 years and works well so we for the most part can size from experience accumulators. I had the original formula used from 1972 using steam locomotive as the foundation but have misplaced it. If anyone can help with the correct formula for this application I would appreciate it
