Wet Ball Value or L.A. Abrasion Testing Alternatives 1

We have a client requesting a wet ball value (TXDOT TEST METHODS 116-E) or, as an alternative, an LA Abrasion Test. The problem is they don't have enough material to run either test. Are there any other tests out there that would yield similar information with a smaller sample size (6000 grams or less)?

Try the Micro-Deval test for abrasion resistance and durability of mineral aggregate as per Ontario test Method LS-618. Minnesota DOT also uses it but has slightly, I understand, modified it. For aggregates that are normally 19mm - you will use 19, 16 and 12.5 sieves with 375, 375 and 750 gms on each sieve. In general, only 1500gms of material is needed for the test according to the test standard I have. It seems to be gaining in popularity and is replacing LA Abrasion or AIV (aggregate Impact Value).
