Hi all,

I'm looking into an existing concrete shear wall building designed in 1982 for a retrofit. The general notes state that the wall dowels to footings are Grade 40. Looking at the shear wall sections, the majority of them are #11's. My question is, even though the plans specify Grade 40, is it possible that #11's were only manufactured Grade 60 back in the 80's?

They were not only in grade 60 in 82. My guess would be that the #11 are 60.

This is perfect. Thank you! It looks like the standard was changed in '81 and the building was constructed in '82/'83. The timing is so close that I would still have to assume the rebar could have been sitting in storage and used in this project, but it answers my question.
