Welds, how to verify hand calc's in simulation?

Brothers,

would like to know how some of you simulate welds?

I'm currently trying to verify my hand calculations on a couple of weld in SW.

For one the welds are not what you could call 'normal-shaped' ,i.e. they are in a crevice and therefore i don't think they can handled by SW weldements.

I was thinking of actually modeling the welds in the assembly and go from there. Would that make sense?
