I have searched hi and lo but cannot find out why my weldment toolbar does not allow me to place weldments in an assembly. The icon for structural members does not light up like the ones I see in tutorials. I need to find out why!!!!

Are you trying to create a weldment in the assembly environment, or do you just want to bring an already created weldment into an assembly? A weldment should be created in a part template, as shown in the tutorial, not in an assembly.

Weldments functionality enables you to design a weldment structure as a single multibody part.

The Weldment tool functions at the part level to create a multi-body part. Unless you are in edit mode of a part, the Weldment toolbar will be unavailable or greyed-out while in an assy.

A Weldment part can be inserted into an assy the same way any other part is inserted.

I am trying to make weldment drawings for an assembly made out of custom designed parts. Sure would be handy just to be able to interface with the assembly and point to where you want the welds to be.......Thanx for the responses so far!

OK, I found out to use insert; "assembly feature" and can accomplish this. Next question: How do you segment a circular weld?
