Dear all

I have some questions for welding type for extended bonnet.
Please understand that I don`t know how to attach reference photos in this site.

End preparation of two members(a & B) are as below description, and only "(W)" mark are welding(PJP) point.
In this case, is this welding tpye belong to butt welding?
Is it needed radiography exam as per B16.34?

Hello Whila,

I believe that you with above sketch perhaps are trying to describe the sidewise (cut) view of the two walls/tube ends of valve and pipeend to be welded together.

Your question is if you need to x-ray the welding after the welding, to ensure the weld is OK.

Maybe others can advice you more specific, but in my opinion an x-ray inspection (or any other inspection) is not given by the form of end-pieces or welding (or any mounting form for any valve) in general.

The inspection form and details is given by either general requirements for the application and pipeline by official authorities, end-users requirements or requirements for the factory/plant or assembly as such. (Note: Pressure, fluid and operational data is included in the 'application' description among all other 'relevant' data).

Normally a good quality valve producer will include a welding description in the detailed mounting instructions for the valve, but again this will (normally) not detail or specify the inspection.

Note: Some end-users and applications will require 'qualified welders' (with specific welding certificates) to do the mounting and welding after a written, specified procedure.
