I have 2no 60mm diameter solid steel bars which I am attaching, one to each end, to a muck skip to act as trunnions. In order to attach these trunnion bars to the skip I am considering using a welded connection. My problem is finding guidance on the welding of such steels.
The steel is graded as USALOY 24T - USEN 24T
This is a 1.5% Nickel Chromium Molybdenum Steel
Am I correct in thinking that the heat effects of welding will require the entire connection to be re-hardened or re-tempered, or is there a recognised code or procedure for this type of weld that does not require post-weld treatment?
