Hi All,

I am creating a product to be used as temporary pressure containing equipment (PCE) made up above the xmas tree. I will be welding a sleeve into the bore and i'm wondering how this will affect the yield of the material in the HAZ. I'm also wondering how big the HAZ will be. It will be MIG welded in.

I have uploaded a rough sketch of the assembly - the green represents the weld and the dahsed red line represents the HAZ. I want to ensure that my equipment is rated for 5,000psi but i'm not sure how to de-rate it (or increase the OD to account for the HAZ). I'm really looking for information on how far into the wall of the vessel the HAZ will go. I will not be post weld heat treating it.

What is the thickness of the material that you are welding to? HAZ depth will depend on T, heat input and preheat.

Your WPS/PQR testing will give you the results you are looking for. After welding the YS should be the minimum YS value or higher. Will this part see H2s gas?
