Hi experts,
Our company qualify welders with 6" test coupon using GTAW wire AWS A5.14 ERNiCrMo-3 and SMAW electrode AWS A5.1 ENiCrMo-3 according to AWS D1.1. Can you please advise me what the qualification range of filler metal for welders. I did not find out the clause mention to those ones.
I am appreciated for your answers.

In order to qualify welders using GTAW, one would need a WPS qualified by testing.

One of the essential variable for welder qualification is the F-number (of the filler metal used). AWS D1.1 doesn't list a F-number for the ENiCrMo-3. Table 6.12, item 2 really doesn't apply, but since a change in the F-number is involved, the welder would have to qualify using the ENiCrMo-3, which would have to be the same F-number as the filler metal recorded by the PQR.

Just the way I see it.

Best regards - Al

One must ask, why reference AWS D1.1 which is for structural steels not nonferrous materials?
