weldability of 10705BU-ST which is equivalent to AISI 422, ASTM A565 Gr 616

I'm looking to weld build up (add about 0.5mm) to a spacer key made of 10705BU-ST material (AISI 422 or ASTM A565 Grade 616). Can anyone provide guidance? the application is LP steam turbine and the key face is about 4.5" x 2" in size. I plan on just having two strips welded on to the face to bring the key into spec, not weld the entire face.

Braze it.

Does the surface need to be hard? Braze on strips of hard metal.
