Weld Throat 1

I have a nozzle set through a shell with a full penetration groove weld and a fillet weld to cap it off (see UW-16.1(c). For my UW-16 calculation I have a throat size of .97" (a 1 3/8" fillet weld). How do I measure my throat for this joint? Section 9 has three different definitions of throat: actual, effective, and theoretical. Which one do I use?
