how much should be the minimum distance between the weld of flanges and weld of web , in built up beams? is there any limitation in AWS D1.1 if we put these welds in one line?

I think you are referring to splicing beam sections and questioning whether or not it's necessary to stagger the joints between flanges and webs. While it may be a good practice, I'm not aware of a requirement in D1.1 to stagger joints.

It is common practice in the fabrication of welded plate girders to stagger the butt splices of webs and flanges and to avoid placing cross frame connector plates within six to twelve inches of one another. I don't recall exactly where this is specified nor do I recall if the value is six or twelve inches. Check the bridge welding code, D1.5, for more information. I once heard this is necessary to accommodate the inspection of the welds. I can not say if this is correct though.

I don't believe it's in D1.5; we added a similar requirement to our own specs and we probably wouldn't have if it were covered in D1.5.
