Many of the Simpson galvanized hangers can be welded. Simpson has these notes for welding “Welds must conform to the current A.W.S. D1.3 structural welding code for sheet steel and must be performed by certified welder.” and “Welding galvanized steel may produce harmful fumes; follow proper welding procedures and safety precautions. Welding should be in accordance with (AWS) standards. Unless otherwise noted Simpson Strong-Tie connectors cannot be welded.”

As EOR's we should take the responsibility to design our structures to support the components we allow in our design per that industry standards.
kondrat...let's assume first that you are in the US and the applicable codes are AWS D1.3 and AWS D1.1 as woodman88 has noted.
The welders must be certified to both code provisions. D1.3 is sometimes more difficult to certify than D1.1.
Depending on the configuration of the connection, the certification must be for either fillet conditions or plug conditions. In qualification on sheet steel, they are similar.
