Hi,

Any advice/suggestions on how to account for the weight of a lining material in a FEA of a rectangular shape tank?

The lining material is alumina oxide hex tile...

Thanks,
OnePoint

Which software do you use ? There are often some special features that allow you to account for additional mass in FEA model. For example in Abaqus this is called nonstructural mass.

To FEA way,

The software I use is Simulation Mechanical (Autodesk).

Regardless of software you can modify density of tank material to account some nonstructural mass.
