Is there anyway to weigh parts while they are in the grippers of a robot or pick and place? Something like a vertical scale that the grippers mount to that could weigh the part during the offload process. Don't know if it's possible or not, but any information would be appreciated.

Yes, there is.

There are several companies that make robot end effector load cells. I'm not sure what the max load (weight) is, but I do know that the max load is affected by the robot speed. As I remember, the robot will have to stop to get an accurate weight.

Off the top of my head, I can only remember Schunk. Google "Robot End Effector" to find more.

I used "Barry Wright" cells several years ago.

It is quite impossible to use them while the robot is moving. You would have to compensate for acceleration.

And if you want to wheigh in any position , the cell has to be 6 axis, expensive.

I still have a 10 kg used cell in stock. Nobody wants it.
