Is there a good reference or article about the design and use of weep wells used for the reduction of groundwater pressure at depth?

If "weep wells" you mean "wick drains", that might be the better term to google

There are all names for a vertical drain that will allow water to weep / wick water through a filter fabric which surrounds a polypropylene core to the surface from a depth below. I need to evaluate the spacing to install these drains and any recommendations or limitations of their use.
