I have an industrial "S" hook that is used to secure mobility devices. There is a nominal force of approx. 500lbs on the hook at all times. I am looking for a sleeve and/or designing a covering/boot for this hook so that it does not wear/scratch/damage the mobility device.

Any suggestions on quality economical materials?
Any suggestions on possible sleeve designs?

I've gone through and designed a couple of sleeves, but none that I feel comfortable with.

Any suggestions will be greatful. Thanks!
 
Depending on the hook cross section (rod or flat bar) you might be able to use Delrin as a sliding pad.

Look into polyurethane. It can be cast in harnesses of almost "mushy" up to 75D very inexpensively. We have converted a number of compression seal rings and extrusion tube seals to polyurethane. Polyurethane is quite common in bushings and sleeves. All the high performance stabilizer component bushings for automobiles are polyurethane.

Hi all!

Thanks for all the help! After some looking into, it seems like I'm gonna start testing the hook with a urethane covering. Thanks again for the input it helped a lot.
