Hi,

I've just upgraded a machine from XP to Windows 7 NX works great but there is a function I just can't find. Whne I load a file/template generally there is this little watermark thing that loads with it. I remember I found an option on a laptop I did and managed to get it to work but now I can't find it at all and I'm completely lost. Any suggestions or help? Please forgive if the jargon is off.

Thanks!

Are you perhaps thinking of 'Plot Banners'? They're set at...

Customer Defaults -> Gateway -> Plot Banner

I took a look there and that's not it. I remember having to set a path to a file(s) in order for it to work. I came across it last time by just pure dumb luck. It was something along the lines of "ugii_path=".

I'll also try to explain a bit more on the watermark. It has the company logo on it and it's already setup just import it when making a new drawing. It has the specs, who made it, date, and a bunch of other useful info.

I am thankful for the help so far as I'm getting a headache going through all these menus.

The drawing title block template?

I think it's your use of the term 'watermark' that is confusing us. What you're describing, as cowski is suggesting, sounds like a Drawing Template or at least the Drawing Border object which one would use to create a Drawing Template.

Could also be a Pattern....

Yes that is what it is. I believe it is indeed a pattern. Thanks for the help I had no idea what to call it.

I believe you need to set the Pattern environment variable (UGII_PATDIR = <path to your patterns>) on your computer....or define it when you're starting NX (from within a .bat file).

Note that while NX still supports 'Patterns', we're now recommending that people utilize the new Drawing Border and Title Block creation tools and the utility which converts them into Drawing templates (introduced with NX 8.0) as the way to go.

That's it thanks! No wonder I couldn't find it in the software it was the machine.

Thanks again for all your help!

It's one of many environment variables unique to NX - if you're able, it's much easier to create a batch file (.bat), back it up somewhere other than your HDD than setting them locally on the machine. Let the .bat file set all the variables then when you get a new machine, it's just a matter of copying the batch file from the backup and possibly editing some paths within the .bat file. Takes some patience, but once you get it working, it's a life saver at times.

I will most certainly look into that.
