We live in a 2 storey home with washrooms upstairs and downstairs. In the last week, we have a waterhammer noise that continues until a tap in the washroom to allow water to run.

Can anyone suggest the cause of the waterhammer 'buzz' and a means of stopping it, or even where to try? It is just recent event, but, is annoying.

It's amazing what changing a single washer can do, even if it still seals, they just get hard after time and are more sensitive to some small vibration which then just feeds on itself.

If you watch the level in the tank, sometimes you can see it setting up a wave in the tank, sometimes it just makes a strange noise as it gets close to closing.

Let us know.
