On a large boiler feed pump what should the maximum water line speed be, for both the inlet and the out let of the pump usually exppressed in Ft Per Second. The pump is around 300Gpm At 300 to 320 PSI. The water Temp is 230Deg F. Existing Pump has a 4" inlet Flange and a 3" outlet flange. Thanks for the help

steamguy2,
I would suggest a velocity of 2-4 ft/sec max for pump suction piping, and a velocity of 10-12 ft/sec max for pump discharge piping. That would be a NPS-6 suction line and a NPS-4 discharge line for 300 gpm flow.
