I am designing a corrugated iron water tank where multiple sheets need to be joined together. How to determine the shear flow/stress in the tank walls and therefore the size and spacing of bolts required to keep it together..?
Once the hoop stress is determined in the tank walls..where to next?

 
There are design manuals for water tanks. I don't recall where right now but I am sure that someone with a better memory will be along shortly.

Why don't you purchase a bolted, steel water tank? Many are epoxy coated. Just for curiosity, I checked and found numerous options and suppliers. Why re-invent the wheel? Otherwise, better get a copy of this manual

Thank you for the advice. I am working in Cambodia implementing rainwater harvesting systems for poor housholds and schools so purchasing a pre-fab tank is outside the price range, hoping we can design and build a cheap one from material here to contain potable water.
