All ,

I have to order a steel pipes for a water project , the standard for the pipes is ASTM A53B Type E , ERW Welding , In addition to this standard it was written in the technical specifications for piping that pipes shall be according to AWWA C200 . I dont know alot about standards but I need to know if we can get pipes that match both standards ASTM A53 and AWWA C200 ?, OR is it enough to match ASTM standard ? I'm realy confused !!!!

We need to do cement lining for all the steel pipes according to AWWA C205 , I looked through the catalouges for some of the companies that do cement lining , most of them require that steel pipes shall be accordng to AWWA C200 , Can I do cement lining for pipes that match ASTM A53B but not AWWA C200 ???

I think it is possible to have some agreement between ASTM and AWWA standards for steel pipe; however I think it is possible the terminology“ASTM A53B” could perhaps cause some contemporary confusion. I think a more recent standard was instead, “ASTM A53/A53M-07”.
I believe AWWA C200 refers to ASTM A53 but also recently included the verbiage,
“Sec. 4.6 Pipe Made to ASTM Requirements
If the pipe is to be manufactured to meet the requirements of one or more of the ASTM specifications listed in Sec. 4.9, Charpy values as noted in Table 1 may apply, and the grades of pipe shall be 1. For ASTM A53, Type E or S.”
What size of pipes are involved on your project?

I think if you are ordering pipe for a project, you should know what you need. Study the standards before ordering. Also consult with the owner. How did you bid the project if you didn't know the location and price of the pipe?
