I have a few elements of a proposed water system which will need corrosion protection and the project specifications are calling out for a polysynthetic liner or wrap. Can anyone point me to any manufacturers that produce such a liner and provide a cut sheet with the products specs?

I heard from other engineers that this product comes in different thicknesses, however a manufacturer, Northtwon Company, out of California mentioned that 8 mil is whats required per AWWA standard and most commonly used. The company produces a 4 mil and 8 mil option. Both meet AWWA standards, however one is used more than the other. Are there any other thicknesses that are used? Any situation where one would be used over the other? Thanks

cvg,
Thanks for your response. I am assuming that when you say that these are shipped with the pipe, that they are shipped with the pipe upon request for this liner?

In this project, I am basically producing shop drawings for the installation of the fire line and as part of the submittal, spec sheets (sometimes called cut sheets by the contractor) for materials and items to be used as part of the final system installation must be submitted for approval. Its a little different approach than producing design drawings.

By the way, I ended up calling out for 8 mil on our plans.

I know what a cut sheet is, but never heard of a contractor or an owner asking for a cut sheet for polywrap.

There are many material, marking, and inspection etc. requirements for polyethylene encasement that are contained in standard ANSI/AWWA C105/A21.5 Polyethylene Encasement for Ductile-Iron Pipe Systems. Per this standard also, upon request of the Purchaser the manufacturer of the encasement is to furnish also an Affidavit of Compliance that the encasement meets the requirements of this standard.
