Watch where your boring is placed

Most of us call the One Call to be sure that you don't mess up underground utilities. However, I suspect they don't have good information on the location of NYC Underground Subways. This picture showed up while I was watching Fox news this morning. Sure looks like a hollow stem auger that managed to drill through the ceiling of a subway.

Oh, that's a subway car to the left and one coming at you on the right.
 
Doesn't say much about the concrete ceiling . . .
 
1. if you were core boring, would not the operator on top notice the changes as the drill goes to, through, then out of a concrete liner?

2. How do you log it? 8<)
 
A few weeks ago the only thing we had to worry about on the 6th Avenue line was bedbugs.
