Please does anyone know what API guidance references there are for waste heat recovery units on turbines, just the reference will do.

A code search for Waste Heat Recovery identified ASME PTC 4 and NFPA 85. Applicable API standards may include PUBL 349, 4704; RP 11PGT, 12N, 535, 556, 573, 2216; SPEC (obsolete 11P), 12K, STD 530, 560, 616.

Are you just looking for waste heat or supplementally fired? Is this for hot oil like Dowtherm or steam? Onshore or offshore? ...

Thanks for the quick response, it's for offshore and with suplementary firing. It is heating a pressurised water system.

In the US the control system must comply with API RP 14C, Piping 14E, Electrical 14F, Fire Prevention 14G, PHA 14J, etc. Also use NFPA 85 or API 556 for the burner controls.

Consider the impact of tube failure to the turbine exhaust and how it would be detected.
