Is there any way you can determine the volume of water in a closed chilled water system by the tonnage, discounting the volume by pipe size?

Quite simply, the answer is NO.

However, depending upon the type of duty, a minimum chilled water volume would probably be from 3 to 7 litres per kW cooling (which is about 10 to 20 litres per TonR).

If you want to determine the volume of an actual system, you need to dissolve a known quantity of something in it and then, after sufficient time has elapsed to ensure mixing, measure the concentration.

briand2 Thanks for the response. I don't normally deal in liters but in gallons however I do know how to convert...I think...Just kidding
