Visual Basic Programing for Solidworks

Does anyone use Visual Basic Programing and Solidworks for automation of day to day tasks?

I have heard that this can be done, but I am not sure if it is just writing macros?

Is there a book on this subject?

Yes, I have written several program to automate daily tasks. cadbilbao's reference is probably the best one. You may also want to check out:
