Is it possibile to turn the visibility of an assembly component off in a drawing view, without blanking out everything behind it?

I've tried using the "overload properties" of the view, but when I edit the component and uncheck the "Shown" box, it turns the component off, but nothing is shown behind it. I am trying to turn off the visibility of shipping caps of an assembly, so the fitting are shown in the drawing view. I only using the caps in the model, so they show in the BOM.

I was able to easily do this in other cad packages.

You can use the scenes function in the assembly workbench to hide the desired components without changing the assembly. Then create your front view from the scene.

In Overload Properties, uncheck "Use when projecting" instead.

Thanks Silverunner...exactly what I needed. I didn't think that applied to the front view.

Ryanrun - if you only need the shipping caps to show in the BOM - try using a blank component (icon above product in assembly design) - label correctly for part name, description...
I use these for items that I do not have to show but must account for.

Regards,
Derek

If I'm not mistaken, those components do not get numbered in the BOM.
