We are trying to determine the yeild strength of steel using Vickers Hardness number. I was told this is possible but am unsure.

Is this possible and if so where can I get the information?

Any information is gratefully appreciated!

There is no published direct correlation with YS, only UTS. A similar question has been asked before on this forum;

I have seen two micro indention methods of determining both yield and tensile strength.
One involves using two indentors that are actually moved sideways slightly.
The other one measured load vs. depth for a series of indentions.
While these both involve micro indention neither one uses a standard machine.

All,

Thank you for the information. I will ponder on it over the weekend.
