Ei guys! I am interested on how to simulate a fan mounted inside a PSU using ProMechanica. My concern is the deflection or movement of the fan when running full speed thus vibration occurs. I have no vibration analysis module and so from some research, I have to make to do of modal analysis feature in mechanica. Can anybody help me? Thanks! :)

Well first, I would do, you have to find out if the Fn of where you are fasting the fan too is the same as the foced frequency(rpm) of the fan. If it is, you will have defections at the point. If the RPMs are three time greater than the Fn of the fastening points then you are golden, you will not have any defections at that piont. You many have transients from the fan to the rest of the PSU though.

If you can do a modal analysis, then you have the "vibration" module, you would use Dynamic Frequency for this application. You would find this in the Design Study dialog box.

Good luck.
