Is there any way to tell what version of AutoCAD a drawing was saved in without opening the file? I have a directory that has been opened by numerous people with numerous versions, but I need to know what drawings were saved as 2000 and which need to be done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Version without opening?

I used to have both R14 and 2002 on the same machine. As I recall, when viewed in Explorer, the icon would be the old orange, dotted/hatched symbol if it was R14. The icon would automatically change to the new blue, cross-hairs when it was resaved in 2002. Maybe I'm mistaken, though...try that.

I would open (right click) the dwg-file with an editor (notepad,etc...). In the first line You can see AC1015 eg. That's the number for AC2000. Maybe that's a good way...?
