Hi there..
I am undertaking a project about the vehicle interior noise from the structure vibration point of view. I have searched the internet to find as many related information about this topic as i can but no luck. Could you please help me in this issue to guide me for the best websites in the internet and ppl that are willing to help me in this issue. I would be so pleased if you could provide me with such information.

Regards

Helpful phrases for your websearch:

Boundary Element Modelling

Statistical Energy Analysis

Acoustic coupling

radiation efficiency

But I doubt you'll find much of any depth, unless there's some academic stuff out there.

It's a pretty big field - what are you really interested in?

Thx for your help
What i am interested in the vehicle internal noise due to the coupling effect or in a simple way the structural vibration of the panel

is that of any help to u so u can lead me more
Regards

What frequency range are you interested in? At low frequency (<100 Hz) we use an FE model of the acoustic cavity coupled to the FE model of the structure. At higher frequencies we don't use analytical techniques, we use SEA or equivalent, and this doen't work well below 500 Hz.

Most vehicle noise that bothers the customer lies in the range 60-300 Hz, therefore we have a lot of noise problems that are not modellable.

Hi GregLocock
Thx for your help..
My interest is the low frequency (0-200 Hz) due to the coupling effect of the vibrating panels .. and how they can be reduced. It seems that u r working in a motor company in the NVH section .. So could u please tell me how the FEM being used and implemented in the car and r u using any passive and active control to reduce the noise in the passenger compartment.

Thx alot

We don't use active control, although I have worked on active noise control a long time ago. Therefore we use passive techniques - mostly via noise path analysis.

CAE NVH use FEA models of every major component in the car which are used to feed into VSIGN, which assembles the various components via their mountings, and allows us to put frequency dependent representations of the bushes and forcing functions and so on into the assembly. The resulting vibrations are used to drive an abstracted version of the acoustic cavity, and so give us an estimate of the noise at the occupant's ears.

Hi spirit

I need the data sheet of all vehicles noise level, If any can give clue on this

Krishna

You won't find many people giving good data away - typical NVH data costs several hundred dollars per hour, and is often commercially sensitive.

It's a pretty all encompassing question. What do you actually want? spectra? overall noise levels? what sort of operating conditions? Internal or external? what microphone position? What sort of vehicle? Do you want to be able to publish the data?

Take a look at and find the power steering pump noise example - that shows typical data for one problem. Cheers

You might look to the proceedings of the various SAE Noise and Vibration Conferences, held every two years in Traverse City, Mich. The '01 Conference papers are all available on CD-ROM and contain a wealth of useful information. Try Anything more specific is likely to be proprietary information that will not be available.
