Hi. I want to simulate a variable resistor in one of my projects. Although there is a model for variable resistor in PSCAD and MATLAB software, i'm wondering whether there is an actual resistor that can change its value in reality or not?? I mean that since the variable resistor used in my project should work on an AC voltage of around 2 kV, is such a resistor available in the market or can it be built using power electronics or not ??

I think you might be looking for a liquid rheostat depending on what the power requirements are.
