Hi,

I am looking for the average valve shaft diameters for different valve sizes. For example, for a 6-in valve, what is the typical shaft diameter. Are there any reference documents for it?

Thanks!

TROUVAY & CAUVIN piping book, would help you. Try to google search

Why do you want/ need to know?

Type of valve?
Pressure?

Each valve and vendor is different.

They need to be rated I think to 200% max force, but what that is is not a fixed thing.

Just go look at a set of different valve suppliers details.

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

Thank you everyone for your response!

I would expect dependency on type of valve, and relationships to operating pressure and resulting break away torque more so than on valve size itself, but obviously size affects total force on the shaft too. Trunnion mounting will also have some "bearing" on the results.

Einstein gave the same test to students every year. When asked why he would do something like that, "Because the answers had changed."
