Having some problems with the new relationship command. Anybody get around them

The main problem I have with it is not allowing me to select the reference planes of the part I wish to attach to.
It allows me to select the plane of the part I'm placing, but once its selected I can not tell SE to turn on the planes of the part I wish to attach it to.

Is there anyway to make SE not default to these relationship? Make it default to 'Mate'?

I have turned off Reduced steps. Reduced steps doesn't allow you to turn the planes on of the part your attaching to even when using the other non-Flash Fit commands.

The flash fit is usefull when doing aligns and mate but not for planes, i think UGS needs to look at how the Flash fit works with planes.

You are right on line with the other users of SE. So far, the default is flash fit and will remain flash fit at least until v18 (UGS doesn't make those kinds of changes through service packs).

My guess is that they will tweak flash fit to allow for reference plane selection using flash fit and the default will remain flash fit.

Dan Staples polled the newsgroup when v17 first came out and we all complained about being able to select reference planes with flash fit. There are many difficulties that aren't noticible on the surface. I believe the final compromise that is being implemented by SE is to adjust the RMB functionality of Flashfit so a pop-up menu to Show/Hide reference planes is available. The difficulty is adjusting the RMB default for quickpick to be able to get quickpick or the pop-up menu.

I haven't seen this 'feature' yet - still stuck on V14/15 here.
Sounds like someone disregarded the saying "If it aint broke, don't fix it".
I remember many releases back when you could pick a relationship in the edge bar and it would immediately be made available for editing. Then someone decided to introduce the 'Edit Definition' button and took this feature away.
