Hello,
Does it makes sense to choose a lateral resisting system category in each direction? With different R and Cd? If I have non-load bearing precast shear walls in the Y-axis and load bearing precast shear walls in the X-axis, Knowing that non-load bearing precast shear walls have higher ductility and higher R, Is it permitted to take Non-bearing walls under Building frame System category with R =4 in one direction and taking R=3 in the other direction (Load bearing shear walls)?

Yes. ASCE 7-16 Section 12.2.2 Says "Different seismic force-resisting systems are permitted to be used to resist seismic forces along each of the two orthogonal axes of the structure."

Also review sections 12.2.3 and 12.2.4 for more insight into how the code requires us to designate MSFRS.
