Do any of you guys use the Fit Spline command on a regualr basis? If so are you experianceing very slow performance when using it in SW05 vs SW04? For the most part I have been happy with the 05 relase (I know it contradicts some opinions) but this is bad. Some of the geometry that I had been using in 04 would take 20-30 seconds to compute a fit spline now it is taking 5 min using the EXACT same geometry. I hope that there is something I can do about this. Thanks... Im done ranting now.

Have you checked all the hardware drivers ect...?
Have you read the Slow downs FAQ here yet?

I have not seen the Fit spline cause any slow downs. If you are seeing them then you need to take the time to figure out if something has changed on your box or if you need to do system maintainence on your Box. If you are working over a network, move the file locally and see if that helps.

Five minutes? That's crazy.

How many sketch elements are you converting to a spline? If you have a lot, this will draw on your resources substantially. If you have less than ten, I'm guessing you have a hardware deficiency somewhere like Scott suggested. Check it out and let us know what you find.

Yea, that was my first thought also then I broke down and reinstalled sw2004 along with 05 and did a heads up and got results just I was describing. I know Im going to sound like I am exagerating but I used a stopwatch and sw05 took 13min and sw04 to 7 sec to do exactly the same thing using exactly the same geometery. I have forwarded this on to my VAR and havent heard back as of yet but I was curious if you guys were seeing the same thing. I am guessing that since SolidWorks did change how splines are handled, which is for the most part much better, something here was overlooked and there is a mathmatical calulation that is caught in a loop behind the scenes. What I am doing is converting the edge of import geometry into a 3d spline and then I am having to to some additional work with that spline (read lofting and sweeping) to create additional surfaces. If I dont simplify all these entities the surfacing work will fail. Thanks again in advance for any further input, it is/will be much appriciated.

Are you using the latest SP for SW2005?

1.1..... yea I know I should move to 2.0 but I havent yet

Might be worth a try to see if it resolves your problem.

Dual 3.0 Xeon processor, 2.0 gig memory, 256 PCI express Quado FX3400 graphics board. Yes I know SW doesnt utilize the dual processor but SW is not all that I do on this machine. Any input would be appriciated.

Thanks
