Hi,

Can anyone help me in using PIANC factors to determine fender capacity and reaction?

PIANC suggests to use angle, temperature and velocity factors in addition to the manufacturing tolerances.
Manufacturing tolerance: Energy absorption -10%; Maximum reaction force +10%
Velocity factor: A table for VF in fender catalogue (Plz see attached) based on time, t = 2d/vi
Temperature factor: TFmax for energy capacity and TFmin for reaction force
Angle Factor:

My questions are:
1. How to determine the fender deflection to get VF?
Do I need to consider the rated reaction? (72% for SCNs)

2. Do I need to adopt different angular factors for energy (AFmin) and reaction force (AFmax)?
AFmin is for a maximum possible berthing angle and AFmax is for a minimum possible berthing angle for the chosen berthing point.

3. Do I need to adopt all these factors for accidental impact (Abnormal case) as well?

Your help is greatly appreciated.
