I have noticed that FEMAP reports that the gap between glue faces of some elements in gap pairs are overly large, even when there is no visible gap between the faces in the model. What is the reason for this false error and is there any way to fix it, if the geometry used to create the mesh is already in contact? What is the best way to know if this is actually causing an inaccuracy in the model.

I have only seen this error when connecting edge of shell elements to face of solid elements.

*** USER WARNING MESSAGE 4690 (CNTGAPERR)
The gap between glue faces of some elements in gap pair 22 between
regions 37 and 35 seems overly large. The largest values are listed

Thanks Blas. I know it's only a warning, and not a fatal error, but I don't want to write it off as nothing without understanding what is happening. Is it quite normal to have this warning when connecting the edge of a shell structure to the face of a solid? In reality I am not connecting two faces at all, but rather an edge to a face, so the warning is a little strange that the "face" of two elements is far away.

I have viewed the deflected shapes, all connections look to behaving as expected and I have also ran a normal modes eigenvalue solution and I do not see the model "separating" at any of the connection points. I assume these methods of checking are typically adequate to ensure the warning isn't indicative of a real problem.
