USB to Ethernet IC

Does anyone know of a simple IC that will convert USB to ethernet? I know there are little adapter modules out there but I want to put the adapter IC on the PCB I am designing.

Perhaps there are dirt cheap microcontrollers that include both interfaces that could be programmed for this function?

Ethernet is hard. A standard microcontroller would not have the required PHY. You are probably best to use one of the modules and mount that on your pcb as a sub-assy.
