Philip Vaughan of Stewart & Stevenson Tactical Vehicle Systems (Sealy, TX) made an excellent presentation on "Driving Complex Models with 2D Curves" at the 2002 PTC/USER World Event in Atlanta in June. The link to his presentation is:

I have been working with some of the techniques presented. There are significant benefits to top-down design techniques with this approach.
