The matter got taken to court by the HSE and after many delays the company concerned was fined a massive £500000 + costs last week for Health and Safety breaches on that single, small site.
I would imagine that the owners will now take H&S much more seriously.

WOW.

I wouldn't have thought the court would apply that level of fine for something which had not actually caused an injury, but fair enough.

I assume you were the "member of the public" - Well done - So many times nothing really happens when you see something that is hazardous, yet so easy to correct.

I was surprised at the level of the fine but apparently its based on the size of the company rather than the actual breach. I thought it would have been in the £5/10k range. The picture of them on the roof was taken by the HSE inspector when he went to the site which did not help their case.
