How is the best way to model an upform (like a cable tie up form) in sheet metal??

I believe the solidworks term for what you are describing is a "Lance". Do a search in help for that and you will find info. A lance is a forming tool in the feature pallette (SW 2004 and earlier... it may have been moved in the newest release, but it still exists).
 
Yeah I think its called a lance, Do you have to create the tool, or are there libaries of tools, cause I cant seemt o find one??
 
What version of SW are you using?

In SW2004 go to Tools > Feature palette > (Insert your location path here)Palette Forming Tools > Lances

The forming tools are in the following directory if you did a default install with the standard directories.

C:\Program Files\SolidWorks\data\design library\forming tools

Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.
