Our company bought two 7001EA Combustion Turbines. These units have conventional natural gas only fuel nozzles and we need to up date the combustion system to Dual fuel (natural gas and fuel oil #2) Dry Low NOx (DLN) fuel nozzles.

According to the company in charge to do the job is necessary change completely the Mark V GE control system for new one from another manufacturer (For example: Schneider, Woodward or Allen Bradley).

When we try to contact GE to configurate the Mark V control system to running the units using dual fuel DLN burners they refuse the job saying that they not take the responsability about the "hardware" job because it will do for another non GE company.

Really is necessary to change the Mark V Ge Control system ?
Is possible found others companies (Non GE)to do the "Software" job for change the combustion system to DLN Dual fuel burners ?

We appreciate any advice or recommendations.

Thanks

DLN is a combination of both controls and burner hardware. I can see why GE would stay away from taking that responsibility if they weren't in charge of providing the correct burner components necessary to accomplish a successful conversion to DLN with dual fuel.

You might get one of the GE aftermarket support companies like Trans-Canada Turbines or Wood Group to do the work, but difficult from a warranty point of view. The Speedtronic itself is perfectly capable of doing the task, it's knowing what software to build within it that is tricky. GE aren't usually very forthcoming about modifying the core logic in their control systems.

That is a very complicated scheme...

DLN combustion hardware from one company + control software (and hardware) from another = recipe for disaster and no party taking responsibility.

GE will never reprogram a MK5 to run with a 3rd party combustion hardware

Seems like the company supplying the combustion hardware cannot reprogram the MK5: that is why they recommend changing the control system.

Getting "de cada pueblo, un paisano" will only complicate your life later on.
