UNS S42000

Hi Friends,
I am working on material property and chamical composition .

For UNS S42000 material, I have reffered the ASTM A276 & other reference also. But i cound not found tensile & yield strength for UNS S42000 material . Only hardness has been given.
Can any one explain to me why Tensile and yield strength has not been given for UNS S42000?

Because none of those specs require a quench and temper heat treatment. For those applications (in those specs) annealed or normalized material is fine as long as it meets the hardness requirement.
Pull up some manufactures data sheets, and look in your materials handbook. They will give you data for various heat treatments.
This alloy does not have much of a usable yield strength, it is very close to the UTS and there isn't much ductility. don't use this material in the hardened condition is a brittle failure would be catastrophic.

HI ,
i agree about heat treatment vs hardness. but i do not clear about tensile. Tensile is also not given. so how can i judge that should i use UNS S42000 or not?

But the lesson here is clear, if UTS is critical to your application then either you need to write a specification that addresses it or you need to move to a material where the standard specifications include tensile testing.
Erkamal, you are the one in control of the material that you use. It sounds to me like you know nothing about 420, in which case stay away from it.
