I have some parts in an assembly that were renamed in the pathfinder. I want to undo this and return them to normal because this is a family of assemblies and when I switch between family members the names of things in the pathfinder do not change with them.

I think that if you delete the entry, as in double-click in it to rename it then remove all text, and then hit <enter> it defaults back to the original name per your Options Definition.

Swertel: I tried that and it returned to what it was displaying before I deleted all of the text. I did get it figured out though.

select the top level assembly in the path finder. Right click and select OCCURRENCE PROPERTIES.
Then select the first column (or only the parts you want to reset).
Right click and select RESET DEFAULT NAME

I was renaming things so what when I moused over them they would display the title instead of the file name. Is there a setting is SE that will change what is displayed when you mouse over a part in the assembly?

Just a note here for any newcomers to Solid Edge.
'Renaming' in the assembly pathfinder is purely a display name - it does NOT rename the file.
I know this sound obvious but I've seen people do this and think they have renamed the file, then wonder why they can't find it !
