I've come across a symbol that I have not seen and cannot seem to find any info on... Particularly the "Circle U" followed by .0000? Any help to decipher would be great.

See attached pic of the frame.

Thanks

You'd be amazed how many people don't get that at first exposure, myself included. I still mentally lapse into "radially outward from the surface", as in "starting at the surface", though it's incorrect. You have to keep in mind that as instructors of the basics of GD&T, you often deal with a wide cross section of people who have little or no experience in GD&T, and too often with designers who can't visualize spatial relationships. Add to that the deluge of information that they face in just a couple of days, and you can understand how something seemingly trivial can become a block. Doesn't make it right, but that's the situation that pops up at most sessions, and I have to get everyone attending to understand the intent & functionality of the controls at the same time as everyone else in the class (No student left behind?). Even if they don't understand the specific legaleze, they understand the concept. It's not pandering to the lowest ability, but it is facilitating and equalizing the opportunity to learn.
