Unigraphics NX course? 1

Hi,

I am trying to find somewhere I can do a course to learn how to use Unigraphics NX. I am currently serving as a technician in the RAF but I am now preparing to leave and I'm looking for something to study that would help me get into a manufacturing career. My background is in manufacturing, before I joined the RAF I did an apprenticeship in Engineering design and an HNC in manufacturing engineering so I have experience with 3d modelling and have done some programming/operating CNC machines. I am based in Lincoln but can travel anywhere really to do a course and I can get funding from the RAF towards it. If anyone knows where I could study or can give me any advice on this it would be greatly appreciated.

If you are based in Lincoln there is a large company right next to you that uses NX
I do not work for them but i know that they are there.

Theecircle- Thanks I'm not sure whether I will be able to get funding for that but will look into it.

Toost - Yes they they just built a new site only a few miles from me, don't seem to advertise for any training that I can find but I could try writing to them.

Thanks Jerry. I think I'm going to do a Autocad course at a local college and then I should be able to get the student version of NX. I can then see how I go with the video tutorials and maybe try one of the online learning websites. I could then try writing to some companies to see if I can do some work experience.

Hi, most companies will provide you training if you apply anyway and are successful, CAD is just a tool anyway. I'd recommend getting hold of a student version if you can (for practise) and not worrying too much, get the applications in based on your experience.
When I started at my present company I'd done almost no 3D CAD work!

There are several tech colleges that have either Solidedge or Solidworks, if you can take one of those instead of Autocad I think you will be better off if you ultimately want to move to NX.
There are also some tech colleges that have NX (including one here in WI), so you may want to try to find one of those.
