Hello! I have an underground pipeline running for thousands of feet under a variety of terrain features in Montana. It is a 6" SDR7 HDPE pipeline in an 8" Bore. There is also another 2" DR11 pipe carrying conduit. I would like to verify that the HDPE is protected from a road crossing as well as when it goes below (min 20') a coulee that under storm conditions could hold a substantial amount of water.

For steel casing and (steel) process pipes, I have typically used standards such as API RP 1102 for these types of calculations, however 1102 specifically calls out steel pipe and makes no mention of HDPE (also 6" HDPE fails a number of 1102's validation checks). Can I analyze principal stresses in a similar way or are there nuances to HDPE that would require a different calculation? Are their relevant standards that may assist me in my validation? I have checked AWWA as well as B31.4 and looked for relevant API codes with little luck.

Thanks!
